We all are born to be a part of this global community and have a responsibility for building it a resilient place for all species.

NMUN conference was held in Japan for the first time from 23rd to 26th in November providing a big chance for students from 12 countries to challenge ourselves thinking about how to dedicate to others. Playing the role of delegate for a country, each student was divided into different committees as General Assembly (GA), Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Security Council (SC) to negotiate with other delegates to make solutions for real global issues.

Being chosen as a delegate of Ghana in ECOSOC, for months I had a big chance to learn all about Ghana and its partnership through the past to the present in 2 topics provided: Meeting Sustainable Development Goals for all Nations and Building Resilient World through Disaster Risk Reduction. Also playing the role of a Ghanaian ambassador, I have learned more about developing countries, gender equality and have realized how lucky I am to be born and live in the safe and peaceful place. By that way, I have learned how big the responsibility I must have for this global community is. I have also learned how to negotiate with other distinguished delegates and bring in solutions for people in my country.

As the world all seems today, Climate Change has given so many bad impacts on society with increasingly millions of affected people and billions of dollars through disasters in recent years. Thinking about this, students in ECOSOC decided to discuss topic 2 on Disaster Risk Reduction first because of its emergency. We talked and gave every idea all the way to make draft resolutions on what countries should do to prepare for and fight against disasters. As stated in the disaster reduction guideline of the United Nations, I and my partner- we Ghanaian delegates noticed the importance of gender equality and especially the fact of “Disasters don’t discriminate but people do”. That’s why we tried to give best solutions to help all women and girls in disasters and now do call for the global community to take every action to help them.

Now I want to tell you "We do not only belong to one or two countries we live, we belong to this big world. We act now. And we change our future."
