博士課程３年のシンシアが、10月13、14日に開催された森林総合研究所REDD研究開発センター主催の第１回公開セミナーにて、マダガスカルのREDDプロジェクトの現状と課題について発表しました。

『熱帯林の紛争管理―保護と利用の対立を超えて』(原人舎)が刊行されました。本書では、世界での保護地域における生物多様性保全政策について概括するとともに、インドネシアの国立公園を事例として、政府による政策と地域住民の生計の実態について明らかにしました。さらに、昨今気候変動対策として注目されているREDDや、REDDと地域社会との共生の可能性についても議論しています。

森林環境研究会編著『森林環境2011―国際森林年 森の明日を考える12章』（朝日新聞出版）（分担執筆）が刊行されました。本書では、インドネシアを事例として、REDD/REDD+の動向やパイロットプロジェクトの現状について解説しました。

A postgraduate student, Ratsimbazafy Lalaina Cynthia will make a presentation about research outputs associated with REDD issues in Madagaskar in the symposium on Tropical Foresty of the Japanese Forestry Society in April.

Minami Satake and Natsumi Fukuhara, the third graduate students in the laboratory, have won the most outstanding award in "the 6th Forum for Human and Environmental Science" in the university, for the poster presentation titled "Forest use in Indonesia: Cases from two villages in Sukabumi District". The research was conducted as an activity of internship programme in collaboration with Indonesian NGO, LATIN.
