PERSPECTIVES

"The Earth Simulator" (2002-2008) gave us a striking impact on computer world and opened a new era of simulation science to challenge for the confronting complex human problems. The world starts competing for the supremacy of new computing system, not necessarily for a victory of computing speed, but with a hope that new light can stimulate brains of researchers who have long been perplexed to the complexity of problems. In this symposium, we wish to have deep and fruitful discussions on two key words, "Disaster" and "Simulation", hoping a birth of new simulation concept that can free the fear of the disaster from “a piece to the whole” and “from micro to macro”. |

2002 年に日本で完成した「地球シミュレータ」は新しいシミュレーションの 世界を次々に見せてくれた。その後、世界がこぞって次世代型コンピュータの 覇を競い合っているのは演算の高速化の優位さを確保するためだけではない。 人類共通の問題がしばしば有する複雑さの前で立ちすくんでいた多くの研究者 が、さらなる発展を期待しているからに違いない。本シンポジウムでは「災害 」 と「シミュレーション」の二つのキーワードのもとに個々の分野での現状を概 観する。それにより「個から全体まで」「ミクロからマクロまで」を扱う新し い災害に関するシミュレーション学誕生への助走としたい。 |
