Methane dynamics in a sub-tropical lake in Taiwan

Introduction
 Information on Methane production/consumption processes in sub-tropical and tropical lakes are very limited in spite of its importance for estimating global methane cycling.
 In this study, we measure the methane production/oxidation processes in an artificial lake near the Taipei city in Taiwan. We are trying to verify these processes by using both stable isotopic information and the microbiological information on methane oxidation bacteria. We also try to apply these observation data to clarify the utilization of methane derived carbon to food-web in the whole lake.
