Message from the President: Continued Support for Learning and Research at Harvard and Other American Universities
The University of Hyogo respects diversity and strives to be an institution where everyone can learn and conduct research without being left behind.
At universities in the United States, such as Harvard and Columbia, international students and researchers face increasingly difficult circumstances, and students aspiring to study abroad are also beginning to experience severe impacts. Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) has recently notified Japanese universities to consider accepting international students currently enrolled in American universities.
In response, our university has begun exploring not only accommodating these international students and researchers but also supporting students who wish to pursue higher education in the U.S.
Over the years, we have actively welcomed international students through programs such as the Global Business Course in the School of Economics and Management and the Department of Global Business in the Graduate School of Social Science, where all courses are conducted in English. We have worked to create an environment where both Japanese and international students can learn together. Building upon our experience, we will take concrete steps to ensure that international students and researchers facing uncertainty can continue their studies and research. Details will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
Lastly, to create new value and hope in a chaotic world, we will continue to connect with academic institutions worldwide, protect academic freedom and harmony, and nurture young people responsible for a diverse and prosperous future for our planet and who build bridges rather than walls between people.
