Admissions

Admission Policy

For the Masters and Professional Degree programs, applicants must possess expertise and skills in economics, business administration, or related fields, which are usually obtained in an undergraduate program. For the Doctoral programs, applicants must possess expertise and skills in economics, business administration, or related fields, which are usually obtained in a Masters or Professional Degree program. Among such applicants, we will select those who can discuss issues to be solved based on such expertise and skills, can express their opinions logically, and have a clear vision of their future needs that can be fulfilled by studying in our programs.

Application and Admission Screening

The Graduate School of Social Sciences has three types of admission screening: general admission screening, special admission screening of international applicants, and recommendation-based admission screening. The screening processes for general admission and special admission of international applicants are the same. These screenings are conducted two times every year.
For the Department of Global Business (DGB) alone, whose classes are carried out in English, admission screening is conducted in English. The DGB offers fall (September) admission in addition to regular admission in April. The DGB may set an online examination, if it is deemed difficult for applicants residing outside Japan to take the examination at the test site due to unavoidable circumstances.
For special admission screening of international applicants, applicants are required to submit a document certifying their Japanese language proficiency at the time of application. For the Department of Global Business, where all lectures are delivered in English, applicants are required to submit a document certifying their English language proficiency at the time of application. However, this shall not apply to those who have graduated, or are expected to graduate from a university or college (or have completed, or are expected to complete a graduate program) in a country where the education is provided in English.
For details, refer to the Application Guidelines.
