The history of the Department of Economics started when the Graduate School of Economics (Master’s program) was established at Kobe University of Commerce in 1967, followed by the opening of the Doctoral program in 1971. Since then, the department has graduated a great number of students. Initially, the department focused on academic research, and many of the graduates selected the careers at universities. In recent years, more graduates have been working at private enterprises after completing the Master’s program.
