Research concerning life insurance and donations/research about life insurance businesses

Institute for Policy Analysis and Social Innovation

Takashi Tanaka Professor and Head of Institute for Policy Analysis and Social Innovation

I have been conducting research centered mainly on the area of insurance phenomena related to life insurance.

In our daily lives in a capitalistic society, life security from life insurance plays an extremely important role.

Also, there is major potential in initiatives based on an approach that includes the concept of “donations (pure donations)” for ”negative externalities” that have been a broad background issue in SDGs and “negative externalities” that are an area of promotion in SDGs.

Thinking about the future of the earth and humanity from astronomy; in particular, from the search for extra-terrestrial intelligence

Institute for Nature and Environment

Full-time Lecturer Shinya Narusawa

Human beings, who have evolved while overcoming limitless odds, have an extremely precious existence. The human race must not perish, even with environment destruction, singularity, or war.

Can the human race continue on existing? Hints to this question exist within the number of civilizations in the universe.

This is because it is proportional to the average number of years a civilization has continued to exist. Conversely, we think about our future from speculation on the number of civilizations by SETI (search extra-terrestrial intelligence). “The future of humanity is in space”

Development of a health support program for foster homes

Research Institute of Nursing Care for People and Community

Professor Maki Umeda

The foster program is expected to advance to a degree in which a domestic living environment can be provided to children who cannot live with their parents. However, in Japan, the foster system currently has a low dissemination.

To that end, our research team is conducting a survey and support program that aims to clarify the support that is needed in order for foster parents to continue to take care of children in a healthy and nurturing way.

We are currently conducting activities to create a society where all children can grow up in a stable, nurturing environment.

Research into environmental literature of Japan and North America, environmental poetry, and disaster poetry of Japan

School of Human Science and Environment

Professor Ayako Takahashi

I conducted research into American activist and poet Gary Snyder.

Snyder, who is currently 92 years old, is a prominent environmentalist. Also, his works are some of the most prominent in the area of environmental literature.

With an approach on environmentalism and respect for living things cultivated through this research, the central topic of my learning and research is the relationship between the environment and humans in the areas of environmental anthropology and literature, with a focus on a fusion between the humanities and sciences and on anthropology.
